ORGANIZATION. THE VANCOUVER CANUCKS

PROJECT DURATION.  2 MONTHS

Each year, the Vancouver Canucks host the Dice & Ice Gala, a philanthropic event attended by the entire roster of players, coaches and management, as well as hundreds of generous donors and special guests. The evening begins with a faux-money casino reception, followed by a plated three-course meal, exclusive live auction, silent auction and games. Proceeds raised go directly to the Canucks for Kids Fund, which benefits children across the province of BC.

This year, for the 20th Anniversary, the Dice & Ice branding was refreshed in order to generate interest and surpass fundraising totals from previous seasons. Visual assets created were key in bringing our reception area and ballroom to life. They also helped shape the online space, driving traffic to our silent auction site, which contributed to the $743,000 raised this year.

BRANDING ELEMENTS

Dice & Ice is a formal affair, and this year, took place at The Parq Vancouver. Our branding was designed to reflect the elegance of the evening and the venue. The consistent use of marble and gold foil, coupled with a regal dark blue helped to convey a sense of sophistication both onsite, and online.

FINAL PRODUCTS

Dice & Ice preparation involved the execution of a large number of branded digital and printed assets that were used both to generate awareness online, and were featured at the event itself. These included the Dice & Ice Program, way finding and display signage, social media content and web advertisements.

MAJOR TAKEAWAYS

The chance to work on such a high profile event with a comprehensive list of requirements was invaluable. With many moving parts, and relatively tight time constraints, I learned a lot about what it takes to pull off a project of this scale. Being exposed to the world of event planning, and gaining first hand experience in environmental design, and way finding was very beneficial.
